"Church is not an organization you join; it is a family where you belong, a home where you love and a hospital where you find healing." --Nicky Grumbel

Our Congregation

Trinity Church was founded March 19, 1914, by the people of this community and plans were immediately made for the construction of a building.

History of Trinity Community Church

In 1887, the Missouri Pacific Railroad came through this area with a turn around loop at Larned. People moved to this site and on July 6, 1908, the town was incorporated as Hudson. As there had not been a church in town, residents attended nearby country churches. In 1905, a small church building was moved into the southwest part of town. Services were led by the pastor of New Hope United Brethren Church located five miles west of Hudson, but by 1910 enthusiasm for this arrangement had waned. In 1912, the residents who were members of Peace Church four miles to the north requested that services be held in town. Services were held Sunday afternoons in the United Brethren Church building with the Peace Church pastor preaching . A growing awareness of the need to establish a local congregation brought about a meeting January 16,1914. The result was a delegation appointed to visit with Rev. Herbert Pister at Inman, Kansas, about procedures to be followed. On March 19, 1914, Trinity Evangelical Church was organized. The congregation voted to join the Evangelical Synod of North America and to call a pastor well-versed in both German and English. The first service was held on April 14, 1914, in the United Brethren building with Rev. Herbert Pister officiating. Soon a call was extended to Rev. Pister and he accepted, moving to Hudson on September 17, 1914.

On August 9, 1914, the congregation decided to erect a brick house of worship at the east edge of Hudson; the contract was let in September with the conerstone laying on October 25, 1914. At this time, a cemetery was established on the east edge of town. The church building was dedicated April 19, 1915. On August 22, 1915 the congregation voted to build a parsonage next to the church.

Over the years since Trinity was organized , Improvements in the parsonage and church were always on the minds of the congregation, and many were made. Throughout the years numerous updates and remodels have taken place to ensure the stability and structure of the church.

"It is not the beauty of a building you should look at; it's the construction of the foundation that will stand the test of time" (David Allan Coe).
